I don’t think it’s a scare tactic at all. It may or may not happen. Most of our local health agencies are working with our City Leaders to develop a strategy to cope with a pandemic. Would I personally buy a product advertised to reduce my chances of contracting an unknown disease? Nope. I see this flu scare as an opportunity for all the commercial slimy worms to try to sell their products. Scared people do strange things.

I feel that i had to answer this question. I am not technically in the health industry, however I am studying for a degree in Microbiology and Immunology in Leicester, England. The subject of Bird Flu has been bouncing around the department now for at least 2 years. There is a potential and serious risk of bird flu mutating, but there are very few products that are going to be useful. For example, tamiflu is the drug being pushed into maximum production and lawded as being our saviour. It is only a generic antiflu drug, and may be useless. Bird flue is one small step away from transmitting from human to human and has the potential to kill 1 in 12 world wide, but too many companies have seen this concern as a chance to make money. There are almost no useful drugs or products as of yet. Will it happen this summer? It may already have and we just dont know yet…..
